The original

With the military designation Pw 8 Pl gl 4x4trat the Puch GE 230 the successor, the famous Pinzgauer, Land Rover and the last Jeep models. It even took over the tasks of the Unimog D401 as a line construction vehicle. Due to the wide range of tasks, the GE230 was used as a light and all-terrain vehicle by practically all troops. For the most part as a command and general transport vehicle, but also as a command vehicle with a fixed superstructure and a high roof made of plastic instead of a tarpaulin. It is therefore not surprising that the army procured a total of 5300 units of this model in several tranches over a period of 8 years.

The Puch was very popular with the troops because the all-wheel drive vehicle had an automatic transmission, a well-functioning heater and was much quieter - even in the version with a tarpaulin. Wind noise, even above 80 Km/h, was also significantly lower than its predecessors. Until the procurement of the Mercedes-Benz G 300 from the years 2014/2015, the Puch did its reliable service on countless missions, which distinguishes it today as a sought-after classic car in the private sector.
