The original

In the 1960s, the vehicle fleet of the Swiss Army was greatly modernized. In addition to the new generation of Saurer trucks, Henschels and Pinzgauers, this era also saw the procurement of the Unimog S. This was acquired in large numbers for the motorized infantry and was subsequently used as a transport vehicle by all branches of the armed forces. This was also the case with the mobile light Flab division, where it served as a towing vehicle for the 20 mm Flab Kan 54, among other things.

This Flab gun, developed by the Oerlikon machine tool factory, was in service with the Swiss Army from 1953 to 1998. It proved its worth thanks to its high performance, low weight and wide range of applications. Initially, it was used by the infantry; after reorganization, it was part of the mobile light flab.
