In 1968 Hanomag Henschel was taken over by Mercedes-Benz - in the summer of 1974 the last Henschel truck was produced. From then on,Mercedes axle production was expanded at the former Henschel plant. Henschel Wehrtechnik GmbH was spun off as a separate company.
