The original

Most tractor enthusiasts have been familiar with the name "Spezial" as the model designation of Bührer tractors for years. So you often hear during conversations, "we also had a Bührer Special at home on our farm". But the question arises, which type of model designation "Bührer Special"? The first Bührer with the model designation "Spezial" was produced during the years 1950 to 1952 and had a4-cylinder 22 hp gasoline/petrol engine from Vauxhall. The "Bührer Special" with Vauxhall engine was given the model designation "SV4".

However, few tractor enthusiasts are really aware that the model designation "Bührer-Spezial" was used for 22 different Bührer types during 28 years. For example, for the SO4, TO4, TM4, UO4, UpO4, UM4, UnM4, VS13, ZS13, etc. Even the last Bührer tractors of the types 345 / 445, optionally equipped with the 45 HP engines from Perkins or Mercedes, were given the model designation "Bührer-Spezial" in the years 1976 to 1978. The model designation "Special" thus only indicated the performance class. For many years, Bührer gave the next higher performance class the model designation "Standard" and the most powerful Bührer the name "Super".

The various types such as SV4, UO4, UnO4, UM4, UnM4 etc. were built in very large numbers by Swiss standards. With 1750 units, however, the "Bührer Special" with the type designation UnM4 achieved the absolute record among the special models. The Spezial UnM4 was produced from 1962 to 1967 and had a choice of a 5- / 10- or 15-gear transmission. It was equipped with the famous Mercedes engine OM636, with an output of 30 hp. Since the UnM4 was the absolute record holder among the special models, we decided to use this special variant for our model. However, the Bührer company was always very progressive during the whole 48 years and continuously improved their models. Especially with the front axles, there are countless variants, even with the same type designations. Thus one meets with many same Bührer types on different equipment variants. Even from the Bührer Special, even industrial tractors with closed cab were produced!
