On October 3, 1972, Fritz Bührer, the founder / owner of the Bührer tractor factory in Hinwil, celebrated his76th birthday. Birthday. However, there was still no talk of a well-deserved retirement. Despite his illness, he was still concerned every day about the future of his company and his workforce. The well-being of the company was no longer at its best at this time. The company urgently needed a strong partner. Fritz Bührer was aware that his strength was coming to an end and that he had to get his life's work on the right track in time.

On July 12, 1973, Fritz Bührer thus sold his life's work to Rapid Maschinen und Fahrzeuge AG, based in Dietikon. Fritz Bührer died on September 14, 1974 after a long illness, shortly before his 78th birthday.

As early as October 4, 1974, Rapid presented a new, revised Bührer tractor series to the agricultural trade press in Hinwil with great optimism. The new model range included tractors from 55 to 135 hp. Particularly impressive was the modern, pleasing design created by the well-known designer Louis L. Lepoix, Paris. At the same time, this Bührer series was available in green-yellow paint for the first time.
