The Swiss N-20 Aiguillon prototype was completed in 1952, and in January 1953, test pilot Major Mathez conducted the first taxi tests and a small takeoff hop. However, because the federal parliament canceled credits for all engine development in March 1953, the N-20 program was canceled and the aircraft was grounded in September 1953. The Aiguillon had a planned operational speed of 1000 km/h, but engineers had actually designed the aircraft for a speed of nearly 1200 km/h. With this performance, the Aiguillon would have been far superior to many other aircraft of its time. After the failure of the N-20 project in 1953, the Aiguillon was on display at the Museum of Transport in Lucerne from 1965 to 1988. Since 1988, the N-20 prototype has been on display at the Air Force Center in Dübendorf.
