The original

The history of Pilatus as a manufacturer of new aircraft types began in the 1940s with the SB-2 Pelikan. However, Pilatus then achieved lasting success with the P-2 aircraft type presented earlier in our catalog, which was used by the Swiss Air Force at the time.

The real breakthrough came in 1959 with the Pilatus Porter PC-6, a multi-purpose aircraft that impressed with its exceptional robustness and STOL (Short Take Off & Landing) characteristics, i.e. its ability to take off and land on very short runways. Sales on the international aircraft market grew rapidly - demand for the PC-6 continues to this day.
