Around the mid-1980s, Franco Sbarro focused his design studio on the production of concept cars and one-off specials. The design office from Grandson on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel came to the public's attention in 1985 at the Geneva Motor Show. At the stand, journalists and visitors were captivated by an extremely flat, white car, the likes of which they had never seen before.
It was the optical shape of the vehicle that created an almost undeniable magic - the silhouette was extremely wedge-shaped. The eye-catcher was the immediate transition from the front hood to the windshield. This ultra-flat combination ended in two wings at the highest point of the roof. Both wings were raised during braking, thus increasing the braking effect.
Franco Sbarro quoted a top speed of 310 km/h, which in the mid-1980s was a barely conceivable speed for most ordinary motorists. The car owed this high speed primarily to the modified drive block of a V-8 engine with 5 liters of displacement, two turbochargers and an output of 380 hp from a Mercedes-Benz. Secondly, however, the first-class drag coefficient of only 0.23 - other sources quote a value of 0.26 - also made a significant contribution. This first-class cd value for a car must have stood for itself for many years.
